     Hey guys,

My name is John, I’m a Dutch guy living in Rio de Janeiro. I’ve been playing poker online since around 2007 I guess. Back then I was a real fish, but with the years I’ve picked up some tricks and made some decent side money. In the past I played a lot of SNGs, starting out with the single table version. After Black Friday I changed to the 180 mans on Pokerstars, where I did quite ok. I played semi professionaly for some months, before moving to Brazil. About a year or two after moving here I started to become more interested in cash games, also because my schedule doesn’t always allow me to play the long sessions that a tournament player needs. I started at the lowest limits and worked my way up to NL25, but there I hit a wall, and I had to move back down. A while later I tried and failed again at NL25. That’s when I decided to grind at NL10 to get a bankroll to become part of the BPC family.

I actually started the program at the beginning of this month, and am now playing my third set of 10K hands. I was told that I need to post 20 Pre-Flop All-In situations, so that’s what I will be doing in the next couple of days.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and good luck at the tables everybody!

P.S. If any of you guys live in Rio, feel free to PM so we can get together for a beer.  😀

    Using All In Expert I put his 3bet range on 55+, Axs, ATo+, K9s+, KJo+, QTs+, J9s+, T8s+, 98s, 87s, 76s
His calling range I defined as 66+, AJs+(ATs half as likely), AQo+, (KQs half as likely)

With him being a shortstack player I expected this to be a profitable shove, if only just, but to my surprise the correct shoving range is very narrow! Only JJ+, not even AKs is good enough. This was a real eye opener for me, I will be a lot less aggressive with my shoves over short stack 3bets. I don’t know if my ranges are ok though, I’m curious what you guys think.

2nd hand: Against the same guy, this hand was played before the AJo hand. I was multitabling and had actually missed the fact that he had a short stack. According to the charts I have to 4bet A8s from the SB, and only when he had pushed all in did I notice that he was only 40bbs deep. I needed just 22% to call, so at the end my call was fine, but I’m not sure if I should adjust my play in these short stack situations.

    Bonus hand:

Kind of a joke hand, I don’t think I have ever 11bet someone. Against anyone even half reggy I would obviously never play the hand this way, because my cards were basically face up to any decent player, but in this case I wanted to keep the fish in (44/13 over 34 hands). I thought he would show me at least KK+, but with fish you just never know.

    3rd hand:

Another all in hand against a short stack, there seems to be a theme here. Another hand where I’m not sure if I should follow the charts, which say that I should 4bet KTo from the BT, thereby pricing me in for a call against his shove. Even if I give him a tight shoving range of 88+ AQo+, AJs+ this is a clear call, in fact I should call 72% of hands once I find myself in this position. The question is: SHOULD I find myself in this position?

    4th hand:

Yep, you guessed it, another short stacker causing me problems. Guy plays 19/16 with a 3bet IP of 8 (33% BT vs CO, but too tiny sample). Looking at the charts I should have called his 3bet instead of pushing, but in game I wanted to avoid playing the hand OOP and decided to push. Also if I remember correctly I had sucked out on him in the previous hand, so I was hoping for a steaming call with a worse hand, but considering the numbers I would have been better of 4betting instead to get him to tilt push (if the guy was on tilt anyway, which I have no way of knowing). The push was not the right decision.
I give him a 3bet range of 55+, Axs, A9o+, K9s+, KTo+, QTs+, QTo+, J9s+, JTo, T8s+, 98s, 87s, 76s and a calling range of 66+, AJs+, AQo, which makes my push even worse, since against this calling range I can only push KK+ profitably. I need to study short stack situations more, I don’t know if there’s a thread on the forum dedicated to this?

    Anyway, here’s the hand.

If he pushes JJ+, AKo+ our calling range should be QQ+, AKo+.
If he only pushes QQ+, AKs our calling range should be KK+
If he has a wide range with a bluff (TT+, AQs+, AKo+, A5s) our calling range should be QQ+, AKo+, the same as in the first situation. In other words, unless you have a very specific read on your opponent, it is almost never correct to call an all in for a full stack with TT, JJ or AQs, and you should even be careful with QQ, and AK (especially unsuited).

    6th hand:

This guy was an aggro fish on tilt. To me his 5x open from the SB and his 100bb push over a 15bb 3bet suggested that he probably didn’t have AA or KK, but then again you never know. I put him on 77+, AT+, KJs+, KQo (including KK and AA), and against that range my call was fine. According to All In Expert I could have even called with 88 or AJo. Sometimes it’s hard to put these steamers on a range, I guess you could make a case for even widening it, I think we’ve all seen what theses guys are capable of. So, looking at this hand, and also at the previous one, the lesson is very clear: know who you’re up against! Is your opponent a decent regular, call a very tight range. Is your opponent a spewtard, call wider.

    7th hand:

This guy was a huge fish who had just lost a big pot, and he had made some crazy moves thus far. I decided to overpush also to take out the caller on the BTN. I put the fish on 50% of hands (any pair, any suited hand, any A, any two cards 9 or higher), and his calling range I left the same. With this range we can push 77+, ATo+, A9s+. If we look at how the hand plays out I think we can say I misjudged him somewhat.

Another shortstacker. The guy plays 32/29 over 29 hands. If I give him a pushing range of 66+, A9s+, ATo+, KTs+, KJo+, QJs I can call with 83%. If I put him on a very tight range of 88+, AJs+, AQo+ my call is just outside the profitable calling range.

Very small pot, thought I would be priced in. If I put him on any pair, any Ax and any Broadway this is a not a good call. If I widen it with Kxs, K7o+, Q7s+ Q8o, J8s+, J9o+, T9o+, T8s+, 98s, it still isn’t a good call. I need to be a bit tighter in these ministack situations.

    10th hand:

Threeway, both guys end up calling with better hands than I initially put them on. When BB (27/23 over 78 hands) coldcalls my 3bet he could be trapping, but usually in these situations they have JJ-88, AQo-AKo, ATs+. When MP (67/19 over 56 hands) suddenly raises he could also have been trapping, but it isn’t too likely, since most big hands would have probably 3bet the UTG raiser. I put him on 44+, Axs, any suited broadway trying to be creative. The board ran out good for me, especially looking at the hands I was up against.
