Alright, so im starting a 3rd blog here at BPC forums. Lets say for the starters that this is not going to be a crying post but I think my situation needs to be clarified, cuz Ive been saying it in my former blogs few times with sentences like ”gonna announce something big”, ”things are getting clearer” etc etc jada jada. Now its time to open it up with not so small post and blog opener.

I come from Finland and Im 29years old. I havent educated myself ”properly”, so basically that means Im enjoying and receiving lower salary than average, unless I work at weekends, in nightshifts or do some extra work to get paid more and even then Im far behind. Ive always been a good and hard ass worker but Ive never got attracted to school or studies to make some more money. Once I tried out a bachelor degree in security management but I had to quit it, just couldnt do it and I think it wasnt for me in the end.

    Boring stuff + Poker

I started to play poker as a recreational player in late 2013/early 2014 when my friend introduced pokerstrategy.com to me. (Maybe I could be next C. Moneymaker!?) I started with Mid-Stack strategy in FR tables. It was easy to make money there, cuz it was pretty much push or fold strategy before river and was working well. I made some moneyz and at some point switched to 6-max and big-stack strategy. However, I was implementing MSS strategy too much and went all in too soft and started to reach losing player status. I never wanted to study because I found somethings too mathematical or hard to understand. Even so, Somehow I managed to turn a free bankroll offers few times, like 10€ at bwin and 7,70€ at poker770 to a couple hundred euros but Ive never had the discipline to take it any further and start study the game.

In 2016 I found HTG blog and after reading it through I joined to CFP 6-max micro. Ofcourse Gordons simple way to approach the game was a true seller for me, because I somehow think that Im stupid. It went well in the beginning, but at some point I added too many tables and did not have the discipline to cut the tables. I tried to replace the missing hours with the volume. That resulted to too many fast stop loss days, frustration and I think I did ”overstudy” and got confused with the content. Ended up losing because of my own fault.

Well, I’ll never got to find out could I have make it there, because around midsummer my left lung collapsed. It is called pneumothorax, if you want to check google / wikipedia. Anyway treatment and recovery took a long time in addition what was our situation(keep reading), I decided to give up with the poker, atleast for now.

After getting better we decided to make some changes with my wife and she went to work as she was in better condition than I was and I stayed home with our kid. It was nice and fun and Im really grateful to her for giving me such an opportunity to be home. It was definitely the best time of my life, so far.

Spring 2017 I received some of the Gordons Spam emails, yes, I could turn them off if I wanted to but I always thought about starting it again and had this dream of poker career. I decided to give a new try for poker in form of NLHU (5k contract). Here I am, still trying to finish it after a year in program. Oh, thats what you get if your avg playing hours in a month is like 20… No one else to blame than myself and my lazy ass.

    Additional Boring Stuff:

Early 2015 me and my wife (TBH: forthcoming ex-wife) had a daughter. Late 2015 we bought a newly constructed house and took a bankloan for this. Without going in to any further details, after a month or so when we moved to this house it really quickly turned out that its not what was sold to us, it was constructed wrong etc. and we started a long long fight against the constructor. That ofcourse involved a lot of time consuming meets with lawyers(charging 250€/h!), loads of sleepless nights, loads of constructor professionals reports and researches (not so cheap) and shit tons of phone calls to everyone we needed to call and actually for some we did not need to call but we still did it, lol. During this fight, I needed to quit my studies and start to work two jobs, so that my wife could stay home with our kid and we can survive from bills, loans etc etc. This fight against the constructor ended February this year in Court of law. The Thing is that after this long shit storm, things are not so smooth, working between us anymore and we are not able to be with each other anymore from many different reasons.

What is comin up? (”The big thing” or announcement)

So now I think we are getting in to the business. Finally we have decided to break up, for real and I am moving out from this house of nightmares. And Im leaving it all behind, except my kid, ofcourse I want to see her as much as possble but I do think that its better that my girls are together. I just dunno yet where I am moving, lol. I am looking a small and cheap apartment, where I could start playing poker FULLTIME. Yes baby, you heard me. Fulltime.

How I am going to make it possible? May sound pretty tough or even stupid but I applied for a 15k€ loan from a bank. The purpose for this 15k is simple: Cover my rents, bills, food, some furnishings for poker(additional screen, desk and chair), maybe bed would be nice? The loan should give me a possibility to play poker fulltime without working at the same time for atleast 6 months, maybe even up to 10months, depends a bit on my expenses.

This time I am dead serious about poker. I will regret it forever, if I do not try it out. I love this game and its simple to make money with it, atleast in baby league. I wanna see how things work when you play atleast 200-250hours per month and with studies reach those 300work hour months. I want to see that success. I want to make shit tons of money and build a new house(A lot better house ofcourse!) and build myself a new life.

Action plan for now is this:

Wait to get the loan from the bank, hopefully I do get it, if not, I have to work out something else.

Im giving myself this month time to find that appartment, move there and put up everything for poker. I will be playing, studying, posting uhlvars and equilabs, attending coachings etc in this month ofcourse, but my main focus is in building that environment for myself first. I actually started that environment building few days ago, cause I booked myself to the BPC poker camp. Cant wait to see really successfull people, listen that Gordons seminar and meet the coaches. Hope to see every HU student there aswell!

I am not good at setting goals but first one I am going to set right away: Finish my 5k contract before the poker camp and start 60k program. Other goals I will think more later and post them here. I will be posting some updates ofcourse how things are going and where am I going to move etc.

I guess this is it then. Took me like 3hours to write this post and even I did take away many parts, I still think its too long. These things cant be written short… I will be sinking with my loans if I dont make it now, so its time for me to go All-In or Fold.

    GL!

ps. lets see how copypaste works from word.

Hoo yes you are so stroooong!

Things going forward already. I did order a chair for my new “workstation”, its a budget chair, since I did get it with discounted price of 199€. It looks like this(green one) http://www.arozzi.se/product-category/verona-pro-v2/

And Im going to check out two apartments today, might post some pictures later with uhlvars.

At tables, I met some nice whales whom I dominated postflop but lost couple flips vs 200bb stack was too much and month is pretty much BE now.

And now for equilabs: Gotta switch that language….

Alright. Went to see few apartments this afternoon. All were same-a-like with small kitchen, bathroom and living/bedroom in 26 m2 sizing. Feels pretty small after living in three times bigger… But hey, thats pretty much all that you need to play some poker!

And well, I told to the lady (dealer, trader?) that I am interested of these. So, she made few calls and promised to get back at me some point. I did receive a call few hours ago, and Im getting one for myself.

Now I gotta start hunting those furnitures! Im moving in before the end of this month. Cant wait!

In tables, action was pretty dead at NL50, so had to take down new born league fishes, made few bucks but not satisfied.

Lets keep pushing to poker-pro life!

ps. Things can still get ugly, havent heard anything from the bank yet…

Hey Otto, Good luck man! Hope you’ll finish by the poker camp and can get the trophee.

Thank you Alex! Omg, you teach ppl to pull 10k months and I get trophy for finishing 5k contract? Nice! Gotta start pushing myself hard 😉

Okidoki, so the contract is signed for my rental-apartment, got the keys and new chair is on its way… I can start moving in after 15th of this month, already waiting it! Guess I gotta start hurry with the rest of the shit, I mean ofcourse for the desk and additional monitor, who needs a bed when you can play poker, right?

Have found okish villains lately, too bad that Im lacking with discipline, when I should be playing less tables… I often found myself playing atleast 3 or 4 tables and its not good. Im mind fucking myself like, oh, Huge fish over there and another comes right up there… I should pick the best of those and leave the rest for you guys 😉

Still havent heard anything from the bank, makes me a bit anxious…

Shit, I almost impress myself. Now I have ordered that chair, external monitor and actually the furniture also 😮 Now I just need to wait for a delivery… Monitor and chair should arrive next week and the rest of the best estimated delivery date is 18th of this month. That said, I think its going to be the day I move in.

Im more than fine with it, leaves me with almost 2 full weeks just for poker in June, and from July I can start hc gaming 😎 Poker is results wise going decent, I did attend all coachings but theres always room for a improvement in playing and out of the tables work. Its hard to get rid of the 6-max multitabling habit. It frustrates me a bit and it is not good for my winrate in HU. Need to work work work with my mind and get rid of the bad habits.

I am so close to hitting a stop loss today so I might aswell keep a little break and keep my blog up-to-date.

So what happened over last couple days?

I feel really empty, thats maybe one reason Im hitting stoploss today. I just cant get a hold on anything or get proper focus. We had two cars and now that we are getting split we both should get one, right? Well, both of the cars were in my name and owned by me or other one was still owned by the finance company. So, what we did… I gave another car to my wife and we took few phone calls to car sales and actually my wife bought a fancy new car with all-inclusive deal. Best part is that I dont have to drive it to the automobile repair shop or worry anything about it… Theres no more my name! So, I kind of cut my expenses there and one less thing to focus on.

And the other car? Ohwell… I had around 4.7k loan left from it to the finance company and its old and theres something broke in it, so it was a pain in the ass. I told to my wifes brother that I have this piece of shit and I want to get rid of it. Guess what? He found me a guy who was really interested about my car. He fixes them himself and it looked like he really knew alot about them. And after 1hour negotiating we found ourselves a price tag which fulfilled our needs. Both of us. All-in-all, abra-ka-dabra I have no car anymore. NONE! So no more expenses from that, one step closer to start shooting for the poker-pro life.

The chair and the monitor has arrived. Need to move them to my new place tomorrow. Now it is starting to look like soon I dont have any excuses anymore and I really gotta start working. It kind of scares me alot, just to drop off from everything and cut ppl from my life that doesnt support me or my choices but I am in feeling that it is actually really necessary to do if I want to make my life like I wanted it to be long time ago or I want it to be in the future. But on the other hand I feel like I really need to do this and I need something new in to my life and Im really excited.

I told about my career choice to my mother in law. She was actually really happy for me and did gongratulate me for having so much “balls” to do that. It felt really awesome. It really did!

This weekend I am going to tell it to my mother. I could make a side bet for it. She does not accept it nor gonna give me any credit or applause when she hear it. I just hope she will understand it someday, bc sometimes she just needs a little time but sometimes she wont accept anything. Ill let you know how it went after friday/saturday so, you are gonna hear about me soon again!

    GL, crush fishes!

ps. Still waiting an answer from the bank according to my loan application. I think thats the only thing to solve now…

Hoo yes you are so stroooong!

    Hala hala!

So we were visiting my parents with my daughter last weekend. I told about my plans to my parents and… Nothing special, have to give them sometime to think it through 😀 Only thing my mother actually said to my was about the trip to Morocco. She said that dont get too drunk, bc when you do, you get yourself in a trouble… Ill accept that for now but would like to hear more thoughts. Everything else went really well and we had a loads of good time there, swimming in the sea, cooked some strawberry cake with whipped cream ofcourse. But the best and most exciting thing to my kid was the trip cuz we took a train and she has never been in one 🙂

Allright, Im almost done with moving my stuff in to my new apartment! Im a bit exhausted but got few things still to do before I can set up my first session here 😎

I am actually getting a touch to my new desk and god it actually feels good when you can stand when working! Yes, I did order a desk which has adjustable height between 70cm-120cm. Its not electrical so I actually have to do something if I want to adjust the height 😀 I guess its good for ergonomy or smth i dunno…

I am still waiting a 40L minibar, it should arrive before the weekend so no hard feelings, maybe I manage to run 3metres to the fridge for a couple of days.

And finally I lost my last excuse. What that means? I got a call from the bank and my loan application was accepted. That means that I got 15k€ in my bank account now. That means I really need to start working. That means if I fail with this, I will fail really hard. It means a lot of things and I am bit confused. Ofcourse I am really happy about it but for now I feel really scared also. I dont know exactly what I am afraid of but I feel it. I just have to start work after I got my stuff sorted in places here. Maybe its that everything is pretty new after living 8years with someone and now I gotta change and try to make it on my own. Will see how things improve here from now on…

And last but not least, pictures from start and how its looking right now. GL everyone! Lets start crushing hard!

You do? Nice! I thought about ordering the bigger one first but it seems that this smaller one fits to my needs better.

Gl Otto, you really have gone all in 🙂

Thanks Fred! I really have 🙂

First days as “poker-pro” has been somewhat tough. Yesterday I wasnt grinding that much bc I picked my daughter from daycare and spent some time with her. Same is true for the next three weekends. Her mother is at work, so I have great opportunity to spend alot of quality time with her. We havent done any agreements about how often, when and where I meet her, but I actually like it. We are not killing each other if we talk and this way it leaves both of us more freedom to organize our own schedules which is good for my new career ofc 🙂

I am trying to set up new sites, bc now Im playing only like at 10sites. But its really frustrating, cuz either the traffic is shit or the site/network doesnt offer heads-up or they doesnt accept players from my country. To be honest its not about country, its about foreigners but what-so-ever. I was thrilled to make an account to the asian player pools, but few skins required me to deposit 1/3 of my bankroll there horror and that doesnt fit for me. Then I checked out other site with test account and there wasnt that much heads-up action for my limits, when I get higher limits, I will sure come back and create an account there. But atm if any of you have some recommendations for sites, feel free to send me a pm and we can discuss about it 😉

Other thing is that I dumped winamax for the rest of this month. Reason is that they do not offer higher than 30NL hu tables and they are starting to get really reg heavy. + My bankroll is now sitting ~3k+, so I have a possibility to take shots at 100NL and I really should start play more on 50NL. Winamax is “eating” the volume from higher limits as there is always some action but I dont see the point playing 10NL now 😀 Ill post a graph from tracked lower limit sites in the end of this post, its mainly from winamax.

I have already made some good daily routines, which I want to further develop ofc from now on. I am going to sleep at 2-4am, depends from action. I wake up between 8-11am, make some coffee, breakfast and watch one strategy video and go through hand forums. If I have something to post, Ill try to do it in the morning. Then Ill start setting up the session and going between grinding, watching videos, reading older hands posted in the forums, reading cfp finisher blogs for motivation etc etc. basically everything related to cfp. I decided to make a use for my whiteboard with weekly changing theme and now Ive written there “heads-up mindset for starters” rules. I was thinking about keeping that whiteboard for Mindset things only.

My coffee is about to end, so Im off to start some session and hope I can find some new sites today to set up as at the weekend there is not so much time for poker.

Wow, what can I say, it was hell of a read !

I do find myself in kinda alike situation when nothing seems to work out good enough, being full of ambition at the same time, and don’t know where am I heading exactly an so on … and … to be honest, I feel so ashamed with my baby problems when I read a story like that, when I hit my 20-30 eur negative days, when I whine about how to manage my job and poker … and this is true reality what you write here … well, thank you for a little bit of eye-opening on what problems can a man have and still be so hungry for his dreams, very hardcore!

I wish you best of luck, don’t burn out halfway there and pretty soon you will be in your new house with lots of new cars and a grind station for NL5k!
