I’m male at age 25, soon 26, I’m from Latvia, I have bachelor’s degree in Electronic engineering 😀
I did’t study further, because I was’t intrested enough. At the time – 2012 – few weeks before I had to do presentation of my theasis at uni, I had major incident at night club, after which, I was hospitalized(hemathoma, crushed skull) – lucky to survive, then I had to spend some time off – becuase I had headaches daily, my doctor said that in best case scenario it might take a year. As you now read, try to imagine, you can’t do anything which makes you’re blood preassure higher – so no sports, no stress, and you can’t study anything, or read for more than 10 minutes, or do anything else which involves concentrating, because head will start to hurt. My first day without headache was about ten months later, so there it was the happiest day of my life. In two months after that day I was already doing sports and reading without any headache ….belief is THE word… After two weeks spent at hospital, I came out with an idea of being best me that I can be. So I decided to live healthy, I stopped smoking and drinking.
Me and poker:
The first time I found out about poker was after watching movie “21” , when I googled blackjack, and at some website poker was mentioned as well, I was inrtigued, because I heard poker mentioned in few movies. At same time I had to prepare for physics exam, so I went home, and I found out that at PKR there was freerolls, you pay nothing and you can win money… so I was excited 😀 … I played all night, I think I won up to 20 cents at one freeroll, so next day without any sleep I went to study physic at my high school. While I was in uni, I spew some free bankrolls from pokerstrategy… and that’s it, after some time, I started to wastch hasenbraten videos at pokerstrategy.com, then I deposited, at full tilt, once after clubing, while I was drunk I blew all my ~$40, so there I was, decided not to play for some time. After a year I started play again, this time I was more serious: deposited 50$ in 4 months made about $1500, decided that I can’t waste my time on poker at the time … what a fish… probably my biggest -EV decison ever… Because uni was more important – for me the value of it turned out to be, as Gordon said in one of his vidoes … degree which isn’t worth the paper on which it’s printed. And it’s becaue I was’t intrested in it, but at the time – plain and simple I just wasn’t brave enough to leave uni and play poker full time at that point.
After my comback from injury I decided to start to work, so I found job as telesales agent, found out that I didn’t like it. I started to work there at 2013 october, at november I was a bit bored, so I deposited $60 at PokerStars, I played NL2 6max, I went up to NL5 fast and at January 2014, I was already making more than my salary was. At december I decided that I will go on skiing trip to Austria with my friends, and befor that I will qouite my job. So my plan : leave job ==> go on skiing trip ==> Play poker full time, so I moved back to my village, where our family had empty apartment,
I’m playing poker full-time since february 2014. Up till 9th of december I played 6max NL10 at PokerStars. So I played 650k hands, and net won $2090 before rakeback.
March was my lossing month, so I booked coach, which helped me a lot. My biggest mistake of the year was that I took vacation on July and I wasn’t playing nor studying poker for a month. I’ve read that if you do something for 30 days you develop a habit, in this case I was just haveing fun … parties, sports. So comeback on august was though, I managed to play some hours, but I couldn’t make myself to study, as much as I used to.
On 8th of december I was looking for inspiration on pokerstrategy.com forum’s and I discovered blog of ilidek and later blog of Eatyourpeas, so I had three huge questions:
1) Who is this magician Gordon
2) What is BPC ?
3)What is CFP ?
Best part was when I found out that I can applay for CFP, I couldn’t believe it. I was so ecstatic. So I applied and told my story, my struggle, that I went and finished my thesis and presented it when my head was hurthing/spining, and got that degree, which I’ll probably will never need in my life. At evening at 9th of december I got email, that I have to complete step 3, so its to play 100k hands in 21day or 150k hands in 28days. I instantly withdraw my roll from PokerStars, and opened account on one of the sites linked and started my way to completing step 3. Plz wish me luck guys 🙂December 12, 2014 at 12:33 am #87645
So as I began to grind on new site, it was a bit wierd to play on this software, but it got better when I set up all the settings as I liked. At begining it was quite hard because I used to play 4 to 6 tables on stars where you can use custom bet sizings and hotkeys. Now I play 9 tables of 6max NL10 so it’s more than I’m used to. And I have to click and think faster. So this will definetly improve my decision making skill, as well as mouse handlig speed.December 17, 2014 at 4:00 am #88981
So I have to play 100k hands until 30th of december, I made playing schedule :
16 – 10k
17 – 10k
18 – 10k
19 – 10k
20 – 10k
24 – 4k
25 – 4k
26 – 4k
27 – 4k
28 – 10k
29 – 10k
