Hello all, I just got accepted to coaching for profit. My goal will be 60k in a year with Gordon, playing Heads-Up No Limit, which will be quite an adventure as I am a small stakes SnG 6max hypers player.

Who am I? My name is Jernej, 33 years old from Slovenia. I am one of those everlasting students popular in Slovenia, close to finishing my master’s degree in economics, but this is staying on pause for now. I love all of the sports especially basketball and martial arts, love to travel and have lots of others hobbies depending on my mood (computer stuff, guitar, party, etc.). From very early on I’ve been dreading the 9 to 5 life, especially to “waste” the best years studying or working more than half of your day for one short vacation a year, so I was doing a lot of soul-searching. You know the Jay-Z song: “9 to 5 is how you survive, I ain’t trying to survive, I’m trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot”. This is where poker came in and helped with flexibility and earning potential.

My long “flirting with poker” story: I was actually introduced to poker by my friends about 10 years ago, but we had quite an on and off kind of relationship. Like every strategy game and competition I wanted to solve it and win it. Started learning strategy and soon I was a playmoney millionaire baller on Pokerstars playing SnGs 😎 . I thought I am the best player ever, deposited 40-50$ and lost $20 in 20 minutes (which was a lot at that time for me). Ended my career, until I got some freeroll tickets when Titan opened up and I actually placed two times ITM to win $250. Back in action baby! Joined online poker school in my town ran from the only official live poker room. I heard we had a very strong FL holdem high stakes players in Ljubljana, like Izmet Fekali (Jonas Znidarsic), so I got interested in the format. I started playing fixed limit online…. until the police stormed the place as in movies, closed it down and the school stopped with it. Another break? Not this time, because I found out a cool trick: bonus whoring!! 🙂 I could clear bonuses relatively fast with my break-even 0.5/1 game. Had some fun with it and went on spending most of my bankroll for a Thailand Muay Thai training trip, followed by a break from poker again. When Pokerstars opened micro SnGs I went back to my beloved SnGs with $20 or $30 I had still on Pokerstars and ran it up, stepped it up even more on FullTilt and was climbing towards mid stakes, actually playing half professionally, when “Black Friday” happened and FullTilt went to the ground with all of my money! Abrupt end to my first months of serious play. But Pokerstars to the rescue!! Thank you again for saving me. Started playing again, but my old school “fold AQ to a raise because too many times we are dominated” wasn’t that great of a strategy anymore: P. I wanted to continue seriously and be a pro,so I transferred to 6max turbos and later hypers with a cool coach  and I started winning and working hard again. Learned a lot and also got my workload to a new level. So after that on my own again, I was ready for big plans for this year. Started hard, but it ended with a prolonged vacation and 4-5 months of debauchery .Since I didn’t climb from $5 to $20 tourneys and a few $30- $40ish  to just $30+. and to keep my plan intact I needed something with no excuses and hardcore no messing around. I always wanted to learn cash games as well to evolve as a poker player even more so coaching for profits with BPC sounded just right.

The CFP: I found out about coaching for profit of BPC, when I was reading some discussions about HU Mastermind and following IamChampion, Ilidek and Rovar success blogs. 60k, 100k in a year from zero. I wanted to do that as well. So here we go. I expect it to be very tough and demanding, especially in the beginning since everything will be so new to me, but I am ready for war. No more funny business, 60k in one year,a new apartment in 2 years 😉 , let’s get it on!!

I am starting with the challenge next week after 20th though, since I still have some other non-poker related project to take care of before poker can take the 24/7 time, so good luck and see you then 🙂

Thank you 🙂 Eduard. Good luck with your PLO challenge, I am quite tempted with all the new offerings from BPC 😛 I want to play every format good, so was considering PLO as well.

Hvala Sale! Upam, da boš pisal blog, da te spremljamo. Srečno tudi tebi!

OK, so I already had time this week and started doing the steps, progressing a bit and upping the workload until the official start on Monday, when I’ll be able to focus solely on the project and all of other things are getting shelved 🙂 I am going through the strategy, but today I decided to solve this windows 10, Ipoker thing. I was firstly searching through all IP’s I saw in firewall from the Ipoker client then was reading into Edge and IE explorer Enteprise mode, tried to downgrade IE11,but no success. I could get into clients with writing a sites address into compatibility mode, but Cashier and a lot of other things didn’t work. Then I stumbled on Pokerstartegy post that a french moderator found a solution.
So since the solution there is not for all clients and in french I decided to finally open Fidler and check the damn addresses of the clients and solve this compatibility mode issues clients are having because they are based on IE.

HOW TO MAKE IPOKER WORK ON WINDOWS 10:

You have to open Internet Explorer 11 (not Edge,so go to start menu and type internet explorer). Then go to settings(that gear looking icon)/Compatibility View Settings and write in adresses. Since it looks like IE doesn’t really care about subdomains this is what you need to input:

    BETFAIR poker:

    ipokercom.appspot.com

    betfair.com  (client and promotions)

    betfaircashier.com (cashier)

    CORAL poker:

ipokercom.appspot.com (if you don’t have it yet)

coral.co.uk (this is for all cashier, client, promotions)

    TURBOpoker.fr:

ipokerfr.appspot.com                       (original post it is says ipoker.appspot.com, however I am getting ipokerfr and I tested it,so mistake or try both )

    ipokerfr.com (cashier)

    turbopoker.fr (client and promo)

So I hope it helps some of you, I’m getting back to studying 🙂

Formatting Windows for those sites will be helpful for me, as I am just about ready to start the CFP program. Thank you and I looking forward to more posts!

Okkk! 🙂 (btw I passed the first BPC starter test woooo!!!but let’s go back in time a bit)
So on the weekend as I pre-started the season I actually ended up shooting the ipoker -windows 10 tutorial video whole Sunday.  I found out quite some things, played with many options in Camtasia and I also found out my English and pronunciation is not that good or rusty. But it might be good practice so I hope I step up my game in this area as well. You can check it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5AoplhrRLQ  (Btw solved Titan poker and NEtBet as well as those before mentioned ones). I also had one Camtasia crash, almost at the end of editing and lost most of the data to start over, but what is one bad beat to a poker player 😛

So Monday was time to officially start. I was not at the stage yet to play and I was not as productive as I wanted to be, but I did go through a lot of theory. Next day I continued and then got into preparing my computer even more to a new poker step, saving/cleaning my hyper’s databases and charts so that my trackers will be fresh and responsive. But I finished all the theory, since I did some during the weekend (and probably not so actively) I more or less forgot about first chapters and just went with the test, which ended pretty badly. So I am probably one of the only ones that didn’t breeze through that. With two tries left and not really wanting to be the first guy in history to end and fail before I even start (it  would be also quite an anticlimax to my first blog ever) I started to go again over the videos and everything to refresh my memory.

Whole day today I’ve been going through all of the materials and actually was a bit anxious to retake this.  It was exciting, I was feeling way more confident this time though and 🙂 🙂 I made it!! I know small victory. So soon I’ll be playing my first HU cash game ever, but until then I have a lot of things to practice anyway.I can’t wait to start grinding, learning more and hopefully crushing soon as well.

Don’t worry you are not only who did not pass the test at first try 😆

I also remember, that I wasn’t too happy to take test second time.

GL! and remember to follow std lines 100% and you will save lot of money and time.

    Thank you, Gustawo 🙂

So I finished with all other steps and technical things and am ready to start playiiiing. I was on some birthday party though on Friday and ended up recovering for the most of today.

However I can’t wait to finally play my first hand. I will start with micro stakes for  the next few days to get a feeling and then we will see. I hope I will be able to play NL50+ as soon as possible as then the money is moving a bit, but we will see how fast that can happen for SnG hypers player and a complete HU novice 🙂

I can promise you I will study like a maniac for this to happen as soon as possible:)

Ahhh have already written this post, but don’t know what happened, it dissapeared. (hope you won’t see 2 posts)
So now it will be a bit shorter update.
On Monday I played my first HU cash game hand ever! 🙂 I started with NL2 of course to get a feel. It was exciting and overwhelming since everything was new. I was checking my paper for every single move. Then I reviewed a bit and learned better some standard lines. After that it was already easier and I tried to play 2 tables that I felt went ok, 3 however are too much for me. Also had today lik 3-4 hour session and I get so absorbed in the game I don’t even notice it. With Hypers 2 hour was quite hard for me already and a few times I pulled 6 hours I was done. It might be the same here once I’ll be able to add more tables, but I hope it stays this way 🙂

I also got added to the groups and will have my first coaching session soon, so I am getting into the flow of things slowly. My game sucks of course, but I am just trying to get experience and focus on standard lines. Also to get into different situations so that I learn how to deal with them and learn these lines as soon as possible, specially at NL2 as it costs no money.

I also did the homework for the last for days. I don’t know how to input the picture, so I will just link it for now. My equity feeling is very bad. I did Uhlvar and equilab and I have a lot fo practice to do, sometimes I was just waaaay off.

Also wanted to put equities into spoiler but I guess it doesn’t work. So here we go

I had my first coaching session today and after my short journey at NL2 I am going to try NL50. Exciting and just a bit scary times, but let’s just hope it doesn’t end in a disaster 🙂 So next week it will be all about continuing to study hard and really playing focused on NL50 and I hope I get comfortable and good at these limits soon. I won’t play a lot of tables so I expect a low volume, but I will play a lot of hours, the only way to gain experience and really learn the basics like a boss.

Here is how we are atm. I do have some easy leaks to fix and some theory work to get better at.

Otherwise I had another birthday party of a close friend of mine on Saturday, but I did use whole of my will power available to get home at a “reasonable” time at around 4am, as there were a lot of girls present and they just didn’t want to stop partying, but I somehow managed to do it 🙂 Still the Sunday was not the most productive I was OK by the time coaching started more or less and I did learn quite some new things. So this week again a lot of new poker adventures are on the way!!
    LEt’s get it on!!!!

Nice sounds like the party was a lot of fun and good luck with the transition to NL50!

Thanks, yeah it was fun. We also played a bit of Wii in the beginning and I am actually sore from jumping around with it haha. I am sitting a lot in front of computer lately and I also have a biorhythm of a vampire atm, so it’s an alarm I need to get back to moving. So will slowly try to get days into days and nights into nights again. Today I also started my day with Insanity training, the 30 min version and will be doing that program every day. It feels good to get your hearth racing and also move your body, incorporate some outside daytime etc.. But yeah, I will write some other time about that.
On to the homework grind. I was doing a lot of Uhlvar and writing things down, hope I can learn them without counting outs

A quick update week2 update, I will continue later with some additional things.
So my shot at NL50 ended badly. Not just results wise, I felt like I have no clue on standard lines and my play was very bad. I made mistakes I knew that. Also my coaching session with Somebody was not the best, so I went into a tank and really wrote out standard lines more in details. Then I went to the hands forum and just browsed through and read a lot and checked examples on my troubled areas and also others. Atm I have more questions than answers even for some basic stuff. So I haven’t played that much and also decided to go play NL10-NL25 for now until I grasp the basics. I had a huge grinding session on Saturday where I played 9,5 hours and pretty badly at that. I wanted to catch up for before played too many tables, made ton of mistakes and mis-clicks.So Sunday I played just a couple of hours and mostly 1 table-2 tables and it went better.
Very big problem was my mental game though. I was a bit discouraged and a full on drama queen. I was a firm believer that my mental game is a strong point as I thought I don’t really tilt, I had for me relatively big downswings in the past (like 4 figures and then some) and I accept that. An here it was not about the money lost as it is not a lot, but about feeling helpless and such a newbie etc. An all of that after like 2-3k hands. Was even thinking if it is smarter to go back to SnGs as it is now opened in BPC etc. Really embarrassing. It is also a lot on my discipline. I was working very hard for the last 2 years and the beginning of this one. But took a break and last 6 months of my life was a crazy mess and wild n’ free time. So it is harder than I thought to get back and get my discipline and work ethic back. But don’t worry guys I snapped out of that quite quickly. Kingreigns helped me a lot with my questions and some discussions about the hands on Skype, “Somebody” gave me some easy advice, but I also read his blog and the way he thinks. Then I was reading the beginning of the journey for m1ndctrl and Nubson and I found comfort to see their resolve and they were not crushing from the first day as well. So realized we have a great pathway layed down, the know-how to move up, the great community, I am very grateful to all the people that answer in the hands forum as well! So no more overthinking, just doing the steps. I was not slacking 100%, I did spend quite some time learning and everything, but it is far from the output I want to give in the program. So I have my clear goal back, I am ready for a tough start and just live and learn. Too much party really weakens your mind I guess, but I am back. Ok that’s it for now. Here is my sad looking graph:

Some hands are missing, but the result is even a couple of bucks worse.

    A quick week3 update:
With my clear head I was doing much better. I was playing NL10-NL25 to get my basics better and I think I have improved. While I had a miss-click galore previous Saturday at the end of week2, I had a bit of a spewing shove it all in Wednesday. But I learned a lot and after that I think I played much better and things started to slowly turning. I played quite some hours and studied a lot as well and am quite happy with the week. It helped I had a side bet with my friend so if I would not complete my objectives I would need to pay up 100€ 😛 But for the future I think my goal will be enough, time is going fast.
Here is the graph for this week:

This week I will try NL50 again, am a bit worried it doesn’t end again like the first time:), but you have to try it sooner or later and I think I fixed a lot of mistakes from last week.
