Hi, my name is Leandro, I’m 28, and live in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Yeah, I’m Brazilian… Joke all you want about the 7×1… Done? Ok, let’s continue.

I’ve been playing poker professionally for more than 8 years now. Those years have been… Really weird, fun, but weird. I really can’t find other definition. In the first 4 years I didn’t study a thing, and played something like 2-3 hours a day. Now I try to study a lot, play 3 times more than before, to make 3 times less than I did in those early years. That’s probably because I’m stuck in nl50 since 2012.

I’ve always been kind of reclusive, and that reflected in my career. I never posted anything on a poker forum, and never had a conversation about poker with any other poker player. Never had a coach, always learned thinks on my own. That’s clearly not working, and I need help to get better and win more.

I’m joining CFP because I want to change all of this. I don’t want to be stuck anymore, don’t want to be reclusive. I want to improve, not only as a poker player, but also as a person. I’m really getting out of my comfort zone starting a blog, as well as a youtube channel. But that’s a great thing to do. This is a make it or break it opportunity for me, and I’m really excited to work really hard to get shit done, and get the results I know I will get joining CFP.

    Update 1

Today I played my first hands as a CPF student (1044 hands… wooooooww). It’s part of the homework to play 10k hands using the charts I was given.

I struggled pretty hard trying to memorise all charts -spent like 3 hours- and decided to play a few tables to try to put them in practice. I started with 2 tables, and then add 2 more. I’m used to play 12, but I’ll keep playing 4, then add 2 more, until I get all charts 100%.

I’ve been thinking about how I want to update this blog, and I think I’ll post an update every 10k hands played, so my next update will be when I finish this homework, hopefully tuersday.

I still don’t know what I’ll do with my Youtube channel, I honestly have no idea what to do there… If anyone have any suggestions, I would be happy to hear.

Here is today’s graph: (I hope I can upload it correctly, I’m such a noob at this :D)

    1st graph

    GL to everyone!

     GL on your journey Leandro!

I have joined CFP as well (10k contract), to challenge things as well. I have a profile similar as you do, stuck at 50NL because I probably suck as well 🙂

Falho um pouco de Portugues do Portugal, porque a minha namorada e Portuguesa 🙂

    Sorry for the mistakes :p

I started 10k contract a week ago, moved down to NL30, I am learning preflop atm ;).

Anyway, I’ll follow your posts! GL! And feel free to answer me in Portuguese, I’ll train 🙂

    Cheers, Will

    Update 2

Soo… I finally finish playing my first 10k hands. It took one day longer than expected, but it’s done. It was really difficult for me to memorize all charts, and I still haven’t memorized everything 100%. I’m probably at 90% at the moment. I printed everything and posted on the wall on the side of my bed, so I’ll look at the charts every day before sleeping. By the end of the week I expect to get 100%.

    So here is my graph:

After finishing my first 10k hands, I thought a lot about how to go with this project. I know I’ll have to play a lot, study a lot and change everything I know about poker.

But there is something I can’t change. My schedule. I’ve always programmed my days and always had an exact time to do everything. In the first 10k hands I didn’t do that, I just play whenever I could, without defining time for my other activities. I did that because I believed it was what I had to do to finish this project. But it was horrible, I got really stressed. 4 of the 5 days when I was reporting the hands I played, I said in the comment section that I got really angry when I was playing. I think it was mostly for not keeping a schedule.

I need organization to function properly. In the last years I played three 2 hours session per day, Monday to Friday. I believe that’s not enough for this program. So that’s how I’m planning on playing:

    Monday – 4 sessions
    Tuesday – 4 sessions
    Wednesday – 3 sessions
    Thursday – 4 sessions
    Friday – 3 sessions
    Saturday – 2 sessions
    Sunday – 2 sessions

22 sessions total, with 44 hours of playing. I’ll study and do homework in between sessions.

I don’t think 44 hours anything special, but is what I’m capable of doing without losing my health and my mind.

    Turn: ($51.10) 2 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    River: ($51.10) 9 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Vilain is a reg with 3,1 bet range. Vs that range we should jam:

    BTN: $47.23 (188.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J J
CO posts BB OOP, MP raises to $1.20, CO calls $0.95, BTN folds, Hero raises to $4.80, 2 folds, CO raises to $16.75 and is all-in, Hero calls $11.95

    Flop: ($35.05) 3 5 5 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    Turn: ($35.05) 7 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    River: ($35.05) 7 (2 players, 1 is all-in)

Giving the fish a range of 88+, AJs+, KQs, AJo+. KQo, we should be calling with almost all hands we squezze in this situation. I think is fair to assume this fish would jam wider there, so I should call all hands I squeeze in this situation.

Preflop: Hero is SB with T A

This fish had just went allin with K5s. So an 18.6% range with 22+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, T9s, 98s, ATo+, KJo+, QJo is a tigth range. Vs this range ATo is a call

He would have to be jamming 22+,A2s+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KJo+,QJo for a KQo call to be profitable. He was a tigth fish, I don’t think he’d jam this much.

This vilain would have to be 5betting jam at least 99+, AKo, AKs. Or 10+, AQo+, AQs+ for TT to be a profitable call. In a small sample, he is 3betting 33% sb vs bb (3/9). Not sure if I can call here.

Vilain is a reg. His 5bet is weird. IMO is strong most of the times. Giving him a range of QQ+,AKs,AKo with no bluffs, AKo is a fold. If he have one bluff combo, which I think is difficult, AKo is a shove

Vilan was a reg, who looked loose playing 35/29, but only had 30% rfi on the sb in 141 hands. Considering he’d would 4bet/call TT+, AKs, AKo, he would need to have 3,6% of bluffs in his 4bet range for TT to become a profitable shove. If we find out he is also 4bet calling 99, he would only need 1,8% bluffs.

Hit stop loss today. In my “free” time I did some homework. Still need 900 hands and 3 more interesting allin hands to analyze to complete Module 3, and finally meet my coach.

I tried to add 3 more tables yesterday, but it was a little overwhelming, I felt lost in some spots as I couldn’t keep close track of what were happening. I’ll keep 6 tables until I know 100% what I’m doing.

I’m kind of worried about volume, but I did some calculations, and if I play all sessions I’m supposed to play next month, in 6 tables, I’ll play 192 hours, and that will be 95k hands or more. It’ll probably be lower than that if I keep hitting stop loss. 😀

Here is the annoying graph of the almost 30k hands I’ve played so far:

I know I should post a hand and analysis, but I’m out of good hands, and when I first play with ALL IN Expert I remembered a spot that often occoured to me playing vs a weak regular, and made some analysis on what he used to do.

This particular reg had 25%+ 3bet vs btn on both blinds. His 3bet size was 10-12bbs vs min raise and he played 80bbs deep.
