My name is Bud Fox 😉 and I am the next wanna be CFP student. I am opening this new blog, because I applied for CFP HeadsUp in the begining of Dec 2014 and did not get in. I recived a very soft rejection, from which I understood there were no more places this year in the program. I didnt belived it! To be honest though, if I was one of the coaches reading my application I was also going to reject myself. There was just nothing special about me, no heartbreaking breakthrough, no inspiring story, no nothing. Just a regular MTT player, who suddenly decided he wants to play HU. I just didnt look that reliable. 🙂
Anyway I decided to take things in my own hands and make a plan to get in the program. I do not belive in failiure! I belive in changing your approach. For 30 years I have been walking on this earth and didnt fail a single time. Now dont get me wrong. Of course I failed hundreds of times. The thing is I didnt quit. I simply changed my approach and then if it doesnt worked I changed it again and again and again until I get what I want. What really matters to me. So proceeding from this thought process I decided to write an email to Gordon, pretty straight forward mail, that was even slightly aggresive, but that was the truth. Now I didnt expected nothing as an answer. This mail was just to establish some ground foundation of my relationship with Gordon. My follow through plan was to write one email every single day(until I get in), in which I act as if I am alreay a student to Gordon. You can find an example below of my email from 18.12.
I was thinking a lot about what you said today in our session. I have to admit, I am guilty of beeing spewy pretty often. From now on I am going to play solid and pick my spots more carefully. As always thanks for your advice. Attached you can find my graph for the past 2 days. There are also around 600hands on Tiger and Planet365, which are not tracked, but they are also around -100$ 🙂
Anyway have a good night and dont forget to write me a line or two, when you find the time.”
This exercise had 2 main purposes for me.
First one was to live like a CFP student. I belive that if you want something really really bad you have to start living it until it becomes reality. So this is what I did. During this one week period I was doing my homework and posting it in my other blog, I was posting 3 hands per day in the strategy forum and answering at least 3 hand in the forums. Also tried to inspire some of our younger members. And of course played HU everyday.
The second purpose was learning. Everyday I was reviewing some spots I had and was trying to find a better play. Usually posted the hands in the forums and when I get an answer I “would discuss it with my coach 🙂 ” At the end of my day I was writing 1 mail to Gordon, usually pointing out 3-4 spots, where I think I made a mistake, but I was acting as if he was pointing out those mistakes 🙂 . I was also giving a brief review of my daily session.
Yesterday Gordon asked me to make a blog instead of writing mails. So now you know why am I doing this. I will post my “sessions with Gordon” in this blog until they become reality and then, well then I will continue posting the reality 🙂 . I am also going to post my results and continue commenting on the hands in the strategy forum. However you should know my comments are not that reliable for now, because I do not have a real coach and all are based on my experience and thought process. I am also going to post a lot of my philosphy for life and poker and how do I percive things and my formula for personal happyness.
I hope you enjoy it.

Here is my lovely graph for Dec so far.
The sample is small, because in the beginning of the month I was in EPT Prague and didnt play that much. So here is my advice for you guys. If you see me on the tables now is the time to play me and win some easy money 🙂

Enjoy your sunday!

Hope you are all crushing today. I had a lovely 2500 hand live session with my coach today and although I didnt hit my stop loss we both think I am playing pretty bad. Coach thinks I shouldnt play 3-4tables, but concentrate on 1 maximum 2. So next week I am going to grind mainly on 1 table and focus more on my decissions.
Thats it for now. Have a lovely sunday!December 21, 2014 at 6:05 pm #90150December 22, 2014 at 7:10 am #90315
The mind of a champion. Refuse to stop! Refuse to give up and try one more time and one more time. I like the editude but sometime u need to stop and trust me i have learnt it this week 🙂
Goodluck this week mate!December 22, 2014 at 8:55 am #90336
This week’s MUSTS for poker will be to:
– play only 1 table
– Play 8h daily
– Stop and think for every decission
– Continue my blog
– Discuss hands in the forums
And for this week here is one of my favourite quotes:
The master in the art of living makes little destinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excelence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide weather he is working or playing. To him he is alwasys doing both.
Thats it for now. Good look this week to all!
