Taiwanese ZOOM Student Crushing

Today we catch up with the ZOOM student BoTing Yu “boeingfish116”.

He switched to the program in April, and is doing very well!

Here is the interview with him:

How did you get in touch with poker and what made you decide to start playing?

I got in touch with poker by watching an EPT broadcast on TV.

After some time, I started playing real money after winning a $1,50 dollar SNG ticket through a freeroll, and ended up winning that SNG.

Where do you live and how is it to live there and what do you like a lot about it?

I live in Taipei, Taiwan. It’s one of the coolest countries in the world, we’ve got nice views, cool beaches, convenient transportation, insanely delicious cuisine.

But what I love the most is the cozy environment filled with kind and zealous people.

When did you join our team at BPC? And why did you choose to play ZOOM?

I joined BPC last November joining 6-max CFP program and I didn’t put much effort into the program, to be honest, so as expected, I had poor results.

Since ZOOM has always been my favorite format of poker, I switched to the ZOOM course in April after the course came out.

How is the ZOOM program? How do you like the material and the coaching sessions?

The material is quite different and it took me a while to get familiar with the standard lines.

However, it’s also INSANELY good! I soon started making money and crushing the game where I used to have a pretty bad win rate.

Asimos is a very good coach, you get leak finder sessions every once in a while, and he immediately finds my leaks, which may easily increase 1-2bb after solving each of them.

The coaching sessions are very beneficial, I really feel fortunate to be coached by such an awesome coach.

In which stake did you start, and in what stake you’re playing now?

I started at NL10 and I’m still playing NL10 while taking shots at NL25. Hopefully, I can stably stay at NL25 soon.

ZOOM is not an easy game to beat, yet you’re beating it! What does it take to succeed at this game?

At first, I haven’t finished the course and spewed like 10 buy-ins because I didn’t see the big picture.

However, after being patient and follow what coach said, I built a nice profit and got the confidence to play the game.

Also, you need to embrace the downswings, I’ve gone through a pretty sick EV difference for a while, but I tried to stay focus on my EV winnings because it’s all that matters.

The gap will get smaller in the end and soon you’ll feel the excitement of big upswings.

What gives you the motivation to get back to the tables every day?

I want to become a poker pro as soon as I graduate(just two years left!), travel around the world away from the 9-5 job and experience my life journey.

Time is limited and I want to move up to NL100+ as soon as possible.

If you could give 1 advice to your other players, what would that be?

Patience. There’s no overnight success, it does take some time to succeed and crush at the tables.

Believe in your coach and be patient and we all will finish the contract as a mid/high stakes crusher!

Thank you very much for your time! Keep crushing at the tables!
