BPC is international: Marcus from Sweden

Today we have an interview with Marcus aka “Crunky” from Sweden. He is doing very well in our program as part of our 6-max Micro team. Here we go!

Update: Awesome news! He now climbed up and is a member in our 6-max Crusher team.

When and why did you start playing poker?

I started playing Poker somewhere around 2005-2006 in school with classmates. Many of them were really into poker but I just played because it was fun. I became 10th in Online Poker SM (Swedish national championship) in 2012 and to be honest I was not very good at poker. But as Gordon said (think it was Gordon) winning an MTT is like winning the lottery. I started taking Poker more seriously when I joined CFP on the 2nd of February this year and the reason is that I’m tired of working for a company and want to do my own thing. So of course, the money is a very important aspect as well.

Why did you decide to join us?

I joined BPC because I want to treat poker as a business and not like a hobby and I think Gordon and BPC is the best place to learn this. Right now I haven’t changed my game very much since joining, as I already played by the No BS 6-max lines. But I have done a lot of work with the things around poker, for example with my mindset, tilt, and money management, as well as goals and math etc.

Where do you live and how is it to live there?

I live in Southern Sweden in a town named Karlshamn. There is not so much to do in here, as it is a small town with a population of 30.000. But I have a house here, which I bought 2 years ago with my girlfriend and our son.

What do you do, outside of poker? Are you a full time grinder or have a hobby, which you are spending a lot of time on?

I am working full time at a concrete factory as a project engineer. But right now I took my parental leave, which means that I am only working 16 hours per week. The rest of the time I am spending with poker and my family, which consists of my girlfriend and our 1.5 year old son and one more to come in 2 months!

In my little freetime I work out in the gym to train for the Strongman. My plan is to compete in a few years and I still need to get a lot stronger for that. I also like to play competitive games with friends, like Counter-Strike. But that hobby I have set aside at the moment, as I am hunting for more money at the tables.

How do you motivate yourself and/or do you have special rituals, which you use?

My son is my motivation! I want to earn a lot of money in a few years, so I can spend more time with him and give him a really good start in life. I will also teach him a lot of what I have learned from BPC, since BPC is not all about poker, it is also about life and success!

I cannot forget to mention Gordon here as well, he motivates me very much! I can’t wait to meet him in Malta at the BPC Poker Camp! (As a matter of fact, he did! And got beaten in an arm wrestle match! :D)

Thank you so much for your time! We wish you all success to make your dreams come true for you and your family!
