BPC Camp 2017 Recap. Part 3

On the next morning, some people were disappointed, ashamed and destroyed by their results at cash games, that they were late for the seminar. Too bad for them, they were the ones who needed the wisdom most!

Day 3. BPC Seminar
Marcus, Krzysiek, Gordon

Then each participant of the BPC camp had an individual photo session in a beautiful environment portrayed by a professional photographer that was invited specially for the event from far away and had to travel thousands of kilometers. I should mention that guys already set those photos as their profile pictures on Facebook and getting likes and compliments from hot girls.

Some shots from Rylan’s and Nico’s individual photo sessions.

It was the last day of the camp, so in the evening we had traditional Award Ceremony and gala-dinner. The Award Ceremony was full of surprises, and with my great pleasure, I will tell you all the details.

Right Before the Award Ceremony, Jan showed the magic trick with a cell phone (he almost pulled the whole table in an attempt to give Christina her phone…)

First of all, the Award Ceremony was the celebration of CFP finishers. Gordon mentioned every grinder that finished the contract last year, told every success story and the White House applauded each of them. However, it’s always better to be there, shake Gordon’s hand and get the trophy you deserve. Since we’re international and students are from all over the world, not all finishers could make it to Cannes.

Danel is the 6-max 60k finisher, today making even 40k a month is within his ability

The first finisher that came up to the stage was Danel. He finished his 60k contract in January. Congratulations, Danel!

Lauri is the HU 60k finisher

Our next hero was Lauri. This guy from Estonia not only finished the 60k contract and set a new BPC record, he also brought some bright color to BPC community in Cannes.

Lauri is giving presents that he brought from Estonia. Nubson and Gordon were lucky to get them

Lauri is a very grateful and caring person, so he prepared souvenirs for his BPC friends: a bottle of Tallinn balm for Maciej “Nubson” and Gordon. By the way, Tallinn balm is better than Riga balm.

Alex and the trophy he earned

The celebration was going on and the next trophy was given to Alex “Lateralus”, the 30k finisher and one of the most respected BPC coaches. He has proved that he is good at playing poker by finishing the contract, and he has proved that he is good at teaching poker when his friend Sonja won the tournament.

Jan and “Dumbest Shit Question” trophy

BPC is not always serious. We prepared also funny trophies. The trophy “Dumbest Shit Question” went to Jan for the question: “What if instead of those questions for the interview you will ask me the question where I can answer “yes” or “no”?”. LAZY!

For the trophy “Best Donkey Move” Gordon had the (stupid) idea that the group would suggest candidates and the winner was determined by applause. I’m not gonna write any names, I just posted this picture here:

“Best Donkey Move” goes to…oh well (that’s what you get for being their coach!)

Laureate of the prize “Biggest Donk” also was determined by applause. It was Jan.

“Biggest Donk”

Actually, I think BPC community wasn’t very respectful by voting for this title. Jan was so kind and generous with his money in the cash games, so other should’ve been much nicer to him. Looking at his car and other rumors…some people also said that his generosity was a thinly veiled brag on the big money he has made the last year…

The celebration is not a celebration without surprises. There were some special gifts prepared for BPC coaches that recently had their birthdays. The gifts were caricature portraits of them.

Atvars and his caricature portrait (he came back fresh from the hospital, glad he could be there!)

Leandro and his caricature portrait
Lauri and his caricature portrait

Actually giving each other some gifts and souvenirs is turning into a good tradition in BPC community. Dominic, for example, somehow guessed Gordon’s literature taste very accurate and brought him a book about business strategies of mergers and acquisitions.

After the gala-dinner, BPC crew was posing on the red carpet, capturing memorable moments.

For the next picture, I don’t want to know an explanation.

The planned entertainment for the last evening was Mafia party game. Watching the guys all those days and how their eyes were shining like a hellfire when they were seeing poker tables, I was sure that no way in the world poker players would play mafia when they could play poker.

I was wrong. Maybe it was because Jan rejected to sponsor another poker night, but BPC camp members were playing Mafia voluntarily till 6 a.m.

Mafia is playing “Mafia”

Some of them had flights early in the morning, so they started leaving the villa in the evening.

In the morning we had the last breakfast together, then there were heartwarming handshakes, hugs, kisses, invitations to different places of the world and promises to see each other again next year.

On behalf of the BPC team, I want to say thank you, everyone, for coming, for making this event happened and making it special! It was a fantastic and very emotional experience for me, and I hope for you too. You all are my friends and hope to see you again very soon.

And if you want to know why there are only half of the people in this picture, it might have been because of the friendly french girls mentioned in the first part of this recap!

And now, dear reader, that did not attend BPC camp 2017, when you know all about the even, I can feel the pain and sorrow that fills your heart.
